PM Modi In US Day 3 Highlights: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Summit of the Future at the UN General Assembly in New York on Monday and held bilateral talks with Vietnamese counterpart To Lam.
Monday was the third day of PM Modi’s US trip which saw him attend a Quad Summit, the Summit of the Future, Quad Cancer Moonshot Event and a roundtable of CEOs of top tech companies.
Modi also presided over a mega-gathering of members of the Indian diaspora in the Nassau Coliseum in New York where over 13,000 along with star performers gathered to catch a glimpse of him.
He also held important bilateral discussions with Joe Biden and both leaders expressed their desire to strengthen relations between India and the US. He also met Australian PM Anthony Alabanese and Japanese counterpart Fumio Kishida in Archmere Academy in Wilmington. The academy is the alma mater of Biden and the Quad summit was held there.
The Prime Minister held separate talks with world leaders including his Nepalese counterpart K P Sharma Oli, and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. He also met Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al Sabah and discussed ways to deepen “historical linkages” and “people-to-people contacts”. On Monday, he met Vietnamese President To Lam on the sidelines of UNGA.
He also met Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky, Armenian counterpart Nikol Pashinyan and secretary of state of the Vatican City Cardinal Pietro Parolin in New York.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a pitch for reformed multilateral forums pointing out that their relevance in the future depends on how quickly they can introduce reforms, in a veiled reference to India’s bid for a permanent seat at the UN Security Council.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged terrorism and “new theatres of conflict” in areas like cyber, maritime and space at the UN on Monday, saying global action on these issues must match global ambition.
His address at the UN’s landmark Summit of the Future comes against the backdrop of conflicts across the world, including the Israel-Hamas war and the Ukraine crisis.
Modi said terrorism continues to be a serious threat to global peace and security. He added that areas such as cyber, maritime and space are emerging as new theatres of conflict.
“On all these issues, I will stress that Global Action must match Global Ambition!” he said.
Reiterating India’s commitment to its principle of “One Earth, One Family, One Future”, Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered the world India’s expertise in eradicating poverty and bridging the digital divide.
Addressing the UN’s Summit of the Future, Modi said: “By lifting 250 million people out of poverty in India, we have demonstrated that sustainable development can be successful.”
“We are ready to share this experience of our success with the entire Global South friends,” he said.
“One Earth, One Family, One Future is a commitment,” PM Modi declared.
